UNIVERSITY PATENT LICENSING
The UPLIFTT Program
(University Patent Licensing for the Future of Technology Transfer)
(University Patent Licensing for the Future of Technology Transfer)
UPLIFTT is a program that helps universities with licensing of patents which universities are not actively focused on
More than 63% of university patents end up abandoned – UPLIFTT focuses on patents that universities have allocated to a “passive” or “inactive” category and that will likely end up abandoned (AUTM Survey Data 2008-2018)
UPLIFTT focuses on challenging licensees that require substantial resources to pursue
UPLIFTT will create a “pool” of patents which are still assigned to the universities and provide revenues back to the university in a fair and equitable way from licensing
In situations where a standard essential patent (SEP) is created or the patents become part of a SEP, UPLIFTT can negotiate on behalf of the Universities.
